THE SCHOOL OF LAW

ZHONGNAN UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND LAW

 

01  INTRODUCTION

The School of  Law of ZUEL is one of the top six law schools in China and the largest one in Asia. It shares a history of 72 years, originally tracing back to the School of Political Sciences and Law of Zhongyuan University founded in September of 1952. 

The School of  Law of ZUEL is one of the top six law schools in China and the largest one in Asia. There are 225 faculty members, including 71 professors, 80 lecturers, and 74 assistant professors. 7 legal departments make up the research system of our law school, namely, international economic law, economic law, international law, civil and commercial law, procedural law, Jurisprudence, and constitutional and administrative law. With 31 research centers and a legal clinic throughout the faculty, over 3,700 undergraduate students, 1,200 master’s students, 200 doctoral students and 257 international students are enrolled in our school.

 


02  ACHIEVEMENTS

In September 2017, the discipline of law has been successfully selected to the list of Double First-Class universities and disciplines in 2017 and 2022.The “Double First-Class” initiative aims to ultimately build a number of world class universities and disciplines by the end of 2050. In China, there are only six universities of law discipline are selected in the construction of first-class discipline, including Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law and Wuhan University.

The School of Law is authorized to award the first-level doctoral and master’s degrees. The discipline of Civil and Commercial Law is graded as the nation’s leading disciplines by the education authorities. It provides 6 national elaborate courses and model courses including  Intellectual Property Law which ranks No.1 in the legal field of China, Civil and Commercial Law, Constitutional Law, Chinese Legal History, Private International Law and Public International Law.

 

03  COOPERATION

The School of Law has developed regular relationships with universities and institutes in more than 20 countries and regions in Asia, Europe and America. It has also developed various course (undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral) programs for international students. With the facilities and resources, it would be greatexperience for international students to study in ZUEL.
