UNESCO hosted the 4th Edition of the Africa Fashion Reception # Paris 7 November 2018
Africa Fashion Reception is supporting the African Union Agenda 2063 and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through harnessing the potential and power of the African fashion industry to fight poverty, to empower women and youth engaged in various aspects of the fashion industry since 2013.
The Event is organized every year two. The first African edition was organized in Addis Ababa with the African Union and the Second Global edition organized in Paris with UNESCO.
This year Paris Global Edition of African Fashion Reception was followed the third African Edition which was held in the second of September 2018 in Addis Ababa. It was organized as part of the fifth Pan African cultural Congress; under the aim of advancing the AU agenda 2063 through Africa’s creative Economy. The exhibition was attended by African diplomats, International Community and AU staff members.
The current second Paris Global edition of African Fashion Reception is aimed at promoting African designers and textile industry trough African designers fashion show. The fashion show was accompanied by the visit of an Exhibition in Pas Perdus Hall of UNESCO.
In this event 10 designers from different parts of Africa including Ethiopia was participated. Next year participant countries are expected to rise into 25- 30 countries.
Selamawit Mulugeta, 26, designer of Ethio-Kesem, was part of the 10 Africans selected to participate in this prestigious event. Selamwit design reflected Ethiopian traditional clothes in modern form.
